With any Criterion game we believe in moving forward and creating something new that has never been created before. We have always believed that GAMEPLAY comes first. It may be smaller than other games but it runs at twice the framerate, has no loading, and features WAY more gameplay than ANY other open world game out there. Other games feature huge spaces with tons of repetition - whilst technically nice we didn't feel that was right for our game - so we hand built the city.

Paradise City was hand built for Burnout gameplay - racing, fighting, jumps, stunts, shortcuts and crashing.

TDU is one of my favourite games - (the 'Millionaire Challenge' was a real highpoint) but it isn't Burnout and Burnout isn't TDU. It isn't TDU that's for sure, even though many of you seem to swear that it is (and you haven't played it either). So we picked a couple of things and a small area in which to play.įor everyone constantly comparing the game to other games rather than see the game for what it is - all I can say is that this game isn't those games.

Personally speaking, I don't believe it is possible to even capture the essence of this new Burnout experience (and I use the word 'experience' there deliberately because this new Burnout is an experience that YOU choose how to play rather than us forcing a game structure on you - when the rest of you get to play the full game I am confident you will agree) in a single demo. The demo was made AFTER work on Paradise was completed, so no, we won't be using internet 'feedback' to tune the game.Įveryone breathe, relax, and remember, it's only a demo - we think we made THE best demo released all year - you don't see many other games getting an online enabled demo up on both systems before launch. i've seen wip vids and such and while it may not have the graphical excellence of a lot of titles, it just looks so much more fun. I can only speak from personal experience. Mercenaries 2 basically cannot fail to be better. Mercenaries was a war time GTA and was fantastic. But it still didnt have mercenaries charm. I considered Just Cause to be mercenaries 2 since it was so similar and to be frank i enjoyed it sooooooo much.

Being only the second in the series it hasnt had time to go stale. Its the dirty perverted uncle of Burnout who looks ok, and entices you with candy and nice words, but will end up taking making you feel dirty and suicidal.īurnout Paradise is to Burnout what Beach Volleyball was to Dead or Alive. The burnout Paradise demo made me feel like a rape victim. Mercenaries 2 is my choice for the two since the original looked and sounded cacky to me, but when my brother bought it and i gave it a shot it turned out to be one of the greatest games ever.

DiRT did the same with the Colin Mcrae license but at least it was FUN. They've taken everything that was burnout, thrown it out, and thought " Hmmmm NFS sells, lets do that". What they have made is a crappy Need for Speed ripoff with nice crashes. Criterion said last week that it was "the greatest demo released in 2007 and the best in the burnout series" or words to that effect.
